Fall is for Planting

Fall planting of trees, shrubs and perennials allows roots to become established while temperatures are cooling off. Six weeks with ground temperatures above 50 degrees is sufficient for plants to become rooted in before winter. Be sure soil is kept moist but not wet. Containerized or potted plants should have ample fertilizer in the soil to keep the plant fed during this time. Avoid heavy feeding in fall, you don't want to encourage fresh new top growth which will have the tendency to freeze back during winter.

Avoid planting grasses in fall in colder areas, they survive best when planted in spring when temperatures are warming up.

Please know our guarantee does not cover any plants that fail to emerge in spring, or any plant damage or losses sustained over winter months.
