Note: Most plants do very well with fall planting, in fact it is a preferred planting time for many reasons. However, there are some species of plants that do not tolerate fall planting. Generally warm season growers like grasses and some perennials like Agastache and others prefer to be planted in spring when day light hours are increasing, and temperatures are getting warmer. If you have questions or concerns regarding when best to plant, please contact us.

Important: Cold hardiness ratings can be variable and are only a reference to gauge how likely a plant is to survive the normal average yearly climatic cold temperatures in your location or hardiness zone. If you live in a zone 6 location, and you receive temperatures colder than zone 6, there it is likely your zone 6 plants may not survive.

If you plan to grow your plants in a container or raised flower bed, those plants can be subjected to cold temperatures 2 zones colder than inground planting. For that reason we highly recommend referencing other reliable horticultural sources like Daves Garden when making plant selections you may not be familiar with.
