Buy J.N. Strain American Hornbeam online.J.N. Strain is a strong and vigorous selection of the native Hornbeam that has been developed over a 30-year period. Hornbeam is also known as musclewood, as its bark has a very sinewy appearance that is dark grey in color. J.N. Strain has particularly vibrant fall color, featuring shades of deep orange and red. Great as an understory tree, a specimen tree, or for heavy shade. Can be grown in full sun but also tolerates heavy shade.
