Buy Garden Gems® Amethyst Redbud online. Garden Gems® Amethyst Redbud is a stunning choice for those seeking a compact, yet striking specimen tree for their garden. With a growth habit similar to Ace of Hearts Redbud, this variety features similar small, heart-shaped leaves that offer a delicate, refined look. However, it differs as the rich burgundy foliage creates a sophisticated, Japanese maple-like effect, adding both beauty and depth to smaller landscapes.
In early spring, Garden Gems® Amethyst Redbud bursts into a cloud of soft pink flowers that not only provide a vibrant pop of color but also attract pollinators to your garden. Its compact size makes it ideal for smaller spaces, and it can easily be incorporated into garden beds or as a focal point in a landscape design. This redbud combines visual appeal with the added benefit of being a native tree, supporting local wildlife.
Though it thrives in partial shade, Garden Gems® Amethyst Redbud is more adaptable than most and can tolerate full sun, making it a versatile choice for a range of garden conditions. If you're looking for a low-maintenance, high-impact tree that will elevate your garden's aesthetics, this redbud is an excellent option to consider.
Family: Fabaceae · Common Name: Redbud
Redbud is a fascinating genus of small trees with several species and many varieties and cultivars. Native to the eastern and southern US, Redbuds are scattered throughout the countryside’s and are one of the first trees to flower in early spring, along with Dogwoods. Redbuds require well draining soil even to the point of being rocky. If planted in wet or poorly draining soils the trees will decline in health rather quickly. Best planted high and dry!
