    Indiana (Hardiness Zone: 5)

    Sassafras is a great plant, once established. I would suggest patience might be needed, at first. My good 3 gal. container start sat in it's favorable site for two summers with very little development until it finally picked up and came into it's own this spring. I top-dressed with a couple inches of compost in autumn. Great zone 5 autumn color.
